As forças israelenses informaram ter assumido o controle operacional da passagem de Rafah, fronteira entre a Faixa de Gaza e o Egito.

O primeiro-ministro de Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, afirmou que a tomada da passagem é um “passo importante” para desmantelar a capacidade econômica e militar do Hamas.

A transferência de doentes e feridos para o Egito foi bloqueada e médicos e pacientes teriam deixado o principal hospital de Rafah.
